Your consultant in Australia: Charles Handley, Partner.
Charles advises professional services and growth businesses on the people decisions that drive revenue: who leads growth, how commercial functions are structured, and whether the team in place can deliver the plan.
As private capital moves into accounting, advisory, engineering and consulting, turning a partner led model into a scalable revenue engine has become the central challenge. Charles has worked on it for twenty years, grounded in how partnerships win, price and retain work.
He has placed hundreds of work winning professionals into firms including HSF Kramer, Allens, Gilbert + Tobin, Mallesons, Freshfields, Linklaters, A&O Shearman, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC and BCG, and the teams he has built have supported more than $3 billion in revenue growth. Throughout his career, his work has also spanned JP Morgan, Fidelity, ANZ Institutional Bank, CBA, Westpac, Lendlease, CBRE and JLL.
He began in front office investment banking search in London, then joined Ambition’s professional services desk. At Ampersand he established and grew the national Professional Services practice and managed the Sydney Financial Services desk. He was the firm’s highest performing consultant when he left to found Dalton Handley in 2013.
Charles reads the capital cycle to anticipate hiring demand before it appears. For firms owned by private capital, or preparing for it, that means a clearer view of commercial capability in diligence, advice on structure as teams integrate or scale, and early sight of where talent is about to become scarce or expensive. His work covers restructuring, remuneration and recruitment, tied to margin and durable revenue, not headcount.
He holds an Economics degree from University College London and is studying towards the CAIA. He is fluent in AI and the data infrastructure behind efficient client and growth functions, and has worked closely with the firm’s Associate International Alliance Partners in London and Hong Kong on cross border mandates for more than a decade.
