Dalton Handley’s client is a a leading Australian commercial law firm advising major corporates, high-net-worth individuals and family enterprises on landmark, high-stakes matters. This firm is known for innovative, commercially focused advice and client service excellence, and the lengthy average tenure of it’s stable and well-regarded marketing team.

There is an opportunity for an ambitious marketer to own the marketing communications function for the firm, including digital, while learning from a high-forming team of senior business development and client professionals with whom the Marketing & Communications Consultant will collaborate with extensively, and develop foundational level business development skill in addition to furthering their strategic marketing capabilities.

The role

Partner with marketing and BD leadership to execute firm-wide and practice-group marketing & BD initiatives. This is a broad, hands-on role spanning digital, campaigns, market research, proposals, awards, client programmes and BD coaching – owning the firm’s website and digital communications.

Key responsibilities

Digital marketing & communications

  • Lead social/content strategy; draft, update and publish across website and LinkedIn/X/Facebook/Instagram
  • Manage the external web agency and oversee site updates, UX and SEO
  • Champion CRM (e.g., UpperSigma/Salesforce) and e-marketing (e.g., Vuture); run eDMs/newsletters and track KPIs
  • Analyse and share performance insights (Google Analytics, SEO, campaign data)

Awards, submissions & proposals

  • Project-manage legal directory/award submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500)
  • Prepare pitch materials: presentations, proposals and capability statements (as needed)

Projects & design

  • Assist with marketing collateral (e.g., graduate/clerkship guides, community ads)
  • Support inclusion and graduate initiatives (e.g., Women’s network, Pride network, graduate recruitment)
  • Lead process-improvement projects; explore new formats (video, podcasts)

Business development

  • Help implement BD plans for practice groups, client teams and partners
  • Coordinate post-matter client feedback and follow-through actions
  • Support the strategic client programme (meetings, pipelines, actions)
  • Run 1:1 BD coaching with senior associates and lawyers

About you (experience & skills)

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or related discipline
  • 3–5 years’ professional-services experience (legal preferred)
  • Exceptional stakeholder skills, attention to detail and deadline discipline
  • Strong writing/editorial skills and social media fluency
  • Comfortable with CRM/e-marketing/analytics (Salesforce/UpperSigma, Vuture, Google Analytics/SEO)
  • Design tools a plus (Canva, Adobe InDesign/Photoshop)
