One of Australia’s most prestigious law firms is seeking a high-calibre Client Relationship Manager to join its Sydney-based team. Sitting at the intersection of client strategy, sector leadership and cross-practice collaboration, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape and drive relationship programs for a portfolio of the firm’s most important clients.
You will also lead the Financial Services sector program, working closely with senior partners, the CMO, Head of BD, and a national BD & marketing team. This is a key hire within a progressive, high-performing environment known for innovation, cultural ambition and commercial results.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Client Relationship Management
- Manage a small portfolio of high priority clients, including strategy development, relationship mapping, client-team coordination, and reporting.
- Partner with senior lawyers to deepen cross-practice engagement, identify opportunities, and embed account-level planning.
- Own client listening initiatives (formal and informal), using feedback to inform strategy and service improvement.
- Track and report on relationship metrics – meetings, referrals, feedback outcomes – and share insights across the business.
- Leverage AI tools and data analytics to surface client trends, map white-space opportunities, and drive proactive engagement.
Financial Services Sector Leadership
- Develop and execute the firm’s Financial Services sector strategy in collaboration with sector partners.
- Shape client targeting, thought leadership, market positioning, events, and sponsorship plans.
- Maintain visibility across pipeline activity and coordinate sector meetings and internal reporting.
- Work with BD and Comms teams to elevate the firm’s reputation in Financial Services across media, content, and digital.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts for how the firm engages, measures and evolves its approach to sector work.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years in a senior BD, client, or account management role within professional services (legal sector preferred but not essential).
- Proven experience managing high-value client programs with measurable results.
- Commercial acumen and sector understanding, particularly across Financial Services or similar regulated industries.
- Gravitas and EQ – able to influence senior stakeholders and drive collaboration in complex environments.
- Hands-on, strategic operator who enjoys both relationship-building and the systems/structure needed to make client programs succeed.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and keep momentum across client and sector streams.
- Proficiency with CRM and analytics tools (Salesforce, InterAction, Nexl, etc.) is highly regarded.
