Dalton Handley is partnering with a fast-growing and future-focused Australian mid-tier law firm to appoint two exceptional Business Development Managers – one in Sydney, one in Melbourne. These newly created roles form part of the firm’s strategic investment in its national BD and marketing function as it scales alongside its expanding client base, partner group, and sector priorities.

Reporting to a high-performing, long-standing leader well-regarded for mentoring and enabling career progression, you will join a collaborative, commercially minded team working with ambitious lawyers across practices and sectors.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, you will play a hands-on and strategic role in supporting and advising key practice groups and industry teams. Your focus will span:

  • Coaching and influencing partners on best practice BD and client engagement.
  • Driving strategic client programs, including key account development and pursuit strategies.
  • Leading major proposals, capability statements, and targeted BD campaigns.
  • Working closely with marketing to align messaging, brand, and sector positioning.
  • Bringing fresh ideas and a solutions-oriented mindset to a firm embracing change and growth.

We are seeking candidates who bring:

  • Prior experience in a BD role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong commercial instincts and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive, collaborative style with a willingness to roll up sleeves when needed.
  • Strategic thinking coupled with excellent project execution and communication skills.
