A leading top-tier law firm is hiring a Business Development Manager (BDM) to support its Corporate Advisory practice – one of the most respected and active corporate/M&A groups in the Australian market.
This role is ideal for a confident operator with strong legal-sector BD credentials, a sharp commercial mindset, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments. You’ll work alongside senior BD leaders and award-winning partners on matters that regularly make the financial press.
Key Focus Areas
Strategic BD & Growth

Shape and execute the business development strategy for the Corporate Advisory group.

Identify and pursue high-value client and sector opportunities aligned to market themes and firm strategy.

Manage BD planning, reporting, and pipeline development in close partnership with practice leaders.
Pitching, Pursuits & Campaigns
-
Lead tender responses, client presentations, and pursuit strategies, elevating quality, win rates, and cohesion across deal teams.

Coach partners and lawyers through the bid process, including messaging, positioning and rehearsal preparation.

Drive forward proactive pitch materials, BD toolkits, and pursuit infrastructure.
Client Engagement & Industry Profile

Coordinate client programs including feedback, key account activities, and cross-practice collaboration.

Support major events, roundtables, and external engagement – from concept through to ROI analysis.

Work with the firm’s Comms and Marketing teams to amplify the practice’s profile through legal media, content campaigns, and rankings/awards.
Data, Insight & Enablement

Use market intelligence and data to inform BD priorities, help partners make better targeting decisions, and uncover whitespace.

Own and improve core BD infrastructure including credentials libraries, content assets, and capability statements.

Collaborate across practice and sector teams to embed alignment, insight-sharing, and best practice BD.
About You
-
5+ years’ BD experience in legal, professional services, or financial services.

Comfortable working closely with senior partners and advising on BD strategy and execution.

Ideally brings experience in deal-driven environments – M&A, ECM, financial sponsors, or adjacent practice areas.

Strong project management and writing capability – able to juggle long-term initiatives with fast-turnaround deadlines.

Data-literate and confident using tools like InterAction, Nexl, Salesforce, or internal BD dashboards.

Team-player mindset, with the maturity to drive outcomes independently and manage competing priorities.
